About Us
Formed as a chapter in March 1991 with fewer than a dozen dedicated
folks; this chapter has grown to more than 100 active members.
We are a chapter of the Back Country Horsemen of Washington and
affiliated with the Back Country Horsemen of America. We are a
non-profit 501 (c)(3).
We have chapter day rides, overnight camping rides, clinics,
potlucks, and informational meetings.
Come join us for good friendship, riding information, volunteer
opportunities, and the chance to make a difference!
Our Purpose
We fully support Back Country Horsemen of Washington's dedication
towards keeping trails open for all users; educating horse users in
Leave-no-Trace minimum impact practices; and, providing volunteer
service to public agencies.
BCHW
is affiliated with Back Country Horsemen of America hereinafter
"BCHA") and therefore adopts the BCHA mission statement as follows:
The mission of this organization shall be:
1. To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses
and mules in America's back country and wilderness
2. To work to insure that public lands remain open to
recreational stock use
3. To assist the various governmental and private agencies in
their maintenance and management of said resource
4. To educate, encourage, and solicit active participation in
the wise use of the back country resources by horsemen, and the
general public, commensurate with our heritage
5. To foster and encourage the formation of new state chapters
in the state organization
